Changing Hearts
At the start when Marcus first tried out for the football team Troy Popovich son of Charlie Popovich, retired NFL player, saw Marcus as a threat. Trying to steal his spot as the star football player on the high school football team. Practicing with Troy's father first enraged Troy. Then he threatened Marcus. Then when Charlie was going to be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame for college athletes Charlie's family wouldn't let him go, but Marcus thought it was right to allow Charlie to be rewarded for his hard work. So he took Charlie to the induction without consent from his family and he was arrested. This was the turning point. Troy realized along with the rest of his family that Marcus was only trying help and this is how they eventually became friends rather than rivals.

When Marcus first moved there he was just trying to make the high school football team. When he started, Marcus knew that Troy was not going to give up his position on the team for him so he had to try his best and make his way up there. Meanwhile Troy's dad, Charlie, was practicing with Marcus behind Troy's back.
