KyleL First blog

Pop was a very good option for summer reading becasue it is a novel about sports with constant plot change that keeps the readers attention . The story begins with a teenager named Marcus moving to a new town so his mother could work for the local newspaper . Also while moving  he avoids his father who divorced his mom and has only been referred to as "Comrade Stalin" because he wasnt a good father. While Marcus doesnt know anyone yet he rides his vespa to Three Alarm Park to practice football so he can hopefully make the new high school he is attending. While practicing alone in the park he meets an older muscular man named charlie. Charlie starts to practice with him and Marcus notices he is still very athletic for his age . Marcus learns alot from charlie and gets much better by each session . Marcus then has competion with Troy for his starting qb job and for his girlfriend Alyssa which causes problems . During football season the coach dosent want problems because it can affect the way they preform in the game and put their second undefeated season in jeoparody. So far I have enjoyed reading the book because I can relate and understand the sports competitive nature.

  1. I agree with Kyle L because this book includes interesting problems that are realistic including Marcus's parents divorce, problems with your peers including sports, relationships with girls and the competition for a starting position on the footbsll team. But there are problems that i cannot relate to including when charlie broke the window and ran leaving Marcus for the patments.
