JacksonH9 Third Post

The end of the book really threw me for a loop and made me feel for Troy even though he had been rude towards Marcus. even though I initially despised of Troy, I felt bad for him at the end because he and his family were finally beginning to understand Charlie more due to Marcus and all this progress was cut short by his tragic death. I finally began to understand why Troy was so uptight and protective when it came to talking about his father and Marcus help open up Troy when discussing his father. Marcus might have been the best thing to happen to Charlie post-alztheimers but it ultimately led to his demise which put a lot of guilt on Marcus. Even though Marcus led the Popovich family to a new understanding of Charlie and his disease, not only did it open up each of their minds, it led to one of the best days of Charlie's life.

  1. Jack, I am totally with you and how you feel about how to book ended. I was totally blindsided by Charlie's death, who would have thought that Charlie would have a flashback to his college days at a small town high school football game. I as well felt the same way about Troy. I thought he was a complete jerk until i found out why, the only reason he was a jerk was because he was trying to protect his father.
